Yame born star world wide hit

 Published By Peter Gasper

Yamê, born Emmanuel Sow on April 19, 1993, in Cergy-Pontoise, France, is a Franco-Cameroonian

singer, rapper, and songwriter known for his blend of R&B, Hip-Hop, and Jazz influences. He gained significant international recognition with his hit single "Bécane," which gained widespread popularity after a performance on COLORSxSTUDIOS and became a TikTok sensation, and subsequently charted on Billboard's Luxembourg Songs chart, the French Singles Chart, and the Belgian Ultratop Wallonia Chart.

Yamê's musical journey began with a strong foundation in music from his father, M'backé Ngoup'Emanty, a Senegalese-Cameroonian musician. Though he initially pursued a career in information management, he transitioned to music professionally in 2020 at the age of 27, leaving his day job to fully dedicate himself to his passion. He honed his skills through Parisian jam sessions, learning to play the keyboard and understanding music theory, and later developing his songwriting and producing abilities. He released EPs like "Bantu Mixtape Vol. 1" and "Bantu Mixtape Vol. 2" before his debut album. His music is also influenced by video games and a diverse range of artists from various genres.

The name "Yamê" itself comes from a language in the Mbo tribe and signifies a spiritual energy or chakra that connects people. This reflects his Cameroonian heritage, which he chose to honor by filming the music video for "Bécane" in his family's hometown in Cameroon, a decision that brought a unique visual dimension to the song.
