President John Dramani Mahama has appointed actor James Gardiner as the Deputy Executive Secretary of National Film Authority.
Cuurently, actress Kafui Danku-Pitcher has been appointed as Executive Secretary and CEO of the National Film Authority.
Following the news of James’ appointment, his colleague actors have taken to social media to congratulate him.
Actress Kafui Danku wrote on Facebook, “Super congratulations on your appointment @jamesgardinergh”.
Roselyn Ngissah also posted on Instagram. “Congratulations my brother@jamesgardinergh on your appointment by President as Deputy Executive Secretary of the NFA,” she wrote.
In his new role, Gardiner will support Juliet Asante to oversee the development and promotion of the Ghanaian film industry, ensuring that it continues to grow and thrive.
His leadership is anticipated to foster greater collaboration among filmmakers, enhance the quality of local productions, and attract international attention to Ghana’s cinematic talents.
Confirming the news of his appointment, James told Graphic Showbiz that he is ready to cooperate with industry stakeholders to improve the creative arts sector.
“I’m willing and ready to listen to concerns and how best we can work together to lift the industry right where it should be. Just for clarity, I’m serving as the deputy and not main executive secretary,” he said.
The National Film Authority is a government agency mandated to enforce the legal framework for the production, regulation, nurturing and development of the Ghanaian film industry, and for the distribution, exhibition and marketing of films and related matters.
President Mahama recently appointed renowned media personality, fashion entrepreneur, and cultural ambassador Kofi Okyere-Darko (KOD) as Director on Diaspora Affairs.
