Nigerian multimillionaire musician Burna Boy, who has taken the international music scene by storm as a torchbearer of Afrobeats, is poised to grace the grand opening of Kampala’s revamped Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, a multipurpose sports and entertainment arena in the heart of Uganda’s capital city.
According to a report by Kenyan online newspaper Tuko, the 32-year-old artist will be pocketing a substantial sum of up to $1 million for his performance at the multi-purpose stadium, which has been extensively renovated by 40-year-old Ugandan businessman Hamis Kiggundu through the Ham Group of Companies.
Burna Boy, known for his electrifying performances, has become a sought-after international act, commanding fees ranging from $700,000 to $1 million for his appearances at global events in 2023. His popularity has soared recently as he’s organized concerts and headlined numerous shows in the United States and Europe.
As one of Africa’s foremost musicians and among the highest-earning performers on the continent, Burna Boy has amassed a considerable fortune through his concerts and performances, cementing his status as one of Africa’s wealthiest musicians. Notably, he holds the title of the African artist with the highest single-concert revenue.
His most lucrative concert to date was his performance at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on April 28, 2022, where he dazzled 20,789 fans and raked in an astounding $1,576,641 in revenue. The event, which witnessed the sale of 13,586 tickets, solidified Burna Boy’s position as a global music icon.
Following closely is his self-proclaimed “African Giant” concert at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome on April 14, 2022, which generated an impressive $1,564,720 in revenue. This show, part of Burna Boy’s Space Drift tour, drew a crowd of 17,000 enthusiastic fans.
